The American Council
of Learned Societies has received a $3-million grant from The
Andrew W. Mellon Foundation to sponsor an electronic publishing
initiative for monographs of high quality in the field of history:
the History E-Book Project. During the first five years of this
project (1999-2004), ACLS will collaborate with five Learned
Societies and seven University Presses to publish these monographs,
exploring the intellectual possibilities of new technologies
and helping to assure the continued viability of the history
monograph in today's publishing environment.
This website has been
constructed to provide information on the History E-Book Project
to authors, presses, learned societies, and anyone interested
in this project.
Additional funding
for this project was
provided by the Gladys Krieble Delmas Foundation.
