Since the construction of the Dojunkai Aoyama Apartments in 1927, the unique and culture of the neighborhoods of Harajuku and Aoyama and the thoroughfare of Omotesando has held a special charm.
2006 will see a quantum leap in the development of this dynamic district. Omotesando is a world unto itself: home to the creative and sophisticated people who have set trends in Japan and throughout the world. This vibrant district is now preparing for a new community, designed by and for those who love Omotesando: a world-class setting for new encounters, discoveries, and ways of enjoying life in natural surroundings, courtesy of Mori Building. |

Omotesando is renowned as one of Japan's leading centers of fashion. NAME OF DEVELOPMENT, with approximately 250 meters of frontage on Omotesando, will form a multipurpose complex consisting of six floors above ground and six below: commercial facilities will be on the third-floor underground levels up to the third floor above ground; five floors on the west and east wings 38 apartment units; for parking, the bottom three floors will hold 200 vehicles. A central atrium and enclosed slope will connect stores and restaurants. The atrium will allow natural light into the underground levels. The residential section of the complex will include an east wing (on the Aoyama side) and a west wing (on the Harajuku side), both in the sunny uppermost levels of the building, with the zelkova trees marking the changing seasons. Building management will ensure safety, security, and comfort. The apartments will be separated from visitor routes to the retail facilities. The rooftop will be planted with lush greenery, while those in the residential section will enjoy verdant vistas stretching north of the site. |

With its high profile stores, open-air cafes, and stylish clientele, Omotesando has earned a reputation as a lively fashion hotspot. An ingenious spiral slope enclosing the atrium of the retail space, reflecting the "pivotal" status of the building within this district, will be home to an array of stores laid out in street-front style, achieving organic continuity with the rest of Omotesando. The spiral connecting slope will allow visitors to enjoy indoors the sensation of strolling outdoors. Those entering the building will be greeted by the surprising sight of another Omotesando, nested within the original. A reproduction of part of the fa_ade of the long-familiar Aoyama Apartments will stand as a tribute to the history of the area. In this and in other ways NAME OF DEVELOPMENT will reproduce for a new generation the familiar and reassuring ambience nurtured here since 1927. |
