Ladies and Gentlepersons,
It is with a heavy heart and a rotund belly that I officially announce my resignation as organizer of Open Mic Rockssin.
My contract expires on March 3rd, and I do not intend to renew, nor to stay and find another job. It's high time I
lived like a parasitic leech on society for a little while as I sort out what to do with the next year of my life, at
least. Thus, I will be returning to Canada and planning my further adventures.
I've had a great experience doing this during the past year and two months. It hasn't always been easy, but I am honoured
to have had the privilege, and I want to thank Ronan for putting his faith in me. I also want to thank Chief, the staff of
Rockssin, and especially Guen-Chea for doing outstanding work both behind and on the scenes. Also thanks to everybody for coming
out to enjoy the show and those for playing. Sometimes I fear that we take this gathering for granted. It isn't easy to build
a community like this, and I think that to have built and supported an event like this in Anyang is something we should all
feel proud of. After all, how many communities around Seoul even have anything like this? Keep spreading the word and don't ever
stop supporting live music and the ex-pat community in Anyang.
Well, that's my two cents. So the question remains: "Who will take over Open Mic Rockssin in March?" Not too long ago, I would've said
venerated Open Mic performer Chris Wright. But now, judging by e-mail requests I've been getting expressing similar interest, I'm no
longer so sure. The people getting in touch with me thus far are all very well-known, and I can't seem to make up my mind whether or
not to give Chris his moment in the spotlight or pass it along to any of these other fine folks. So I'm leaving it up to you, the OMR
audience. Vote now in our special on-line poll to determine who the next OMR organizer will be. I'll announce the results at Open Mic
