Erwin Schrödinger and

Parents

The son of Rudolf and Georgine Emilia Brenda Schrödinger is born on April 12, 1887 in Vienna’s 3rd district, Erdberg. Both sides of the family share a keen interest in the natural sciences. Erwin’s father, owner of an oil cloth factory, is particularly interested in botany, which he pursues scientifically later in his life.

The maternal grandfather is a professor of chemical technology at the Imperial Royal Technical University of Vienna (k.k. Technische Hochschule in Wien) and always strives to make his area of research available to the general public by means of lectures and publications. His prediliction and skill in disseminating information in this way will be found in his grandson as well.
