Peacekeeping and Military Information
  • International Criminal Tribunal (ICTY) for the former Yugoslavia, United Nations
    ICTY, established by UN Security Council resolution 827, passed as a response to the serious violations of international humanitarian law committed in the territory of the former Yugoslavia since 1991.
  • International Crisis Group - Macedonia
    Reports, briefings, and analysis of violent conflicts and peace implementation in Macedonia.
  • Macedonia: Security Assistance
    Country-by-country listing provides information on Political-Military-administered security assistance funds from the Bureau of Political-Military Affairs.
  • NATO in the Balkans
    International assistance in providing security and stability in the Western Balkans (Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Kosovo, Montenegro, Serbia, and the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia).
  • Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe
    The OSCE is responsible for post-conflict elections, human rights and regional military stabilization. There are 56 participating states (including TFYR Macedonia).
  • Stability Pact for South Eastern Europe
    This initiative from the European Union is a comprehensive, long-term conflict prevention strategy for South Eastern Europe (Albania, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Moldova, Montenegro, Romania, Serbia and The Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia).
  • United Nations Preventive Deployment Force (UNPREDEP)
    March 1995-February 1999: "Established on 31 March 1995 to replace UNPROFOR in the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia. The mandate of UNPREDEP remained essentially the same: to monitor and report any developments in the border areas which could undermine confidence and stability in the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia and threaten its territory."
  • United Nations Protection Force Former Yugoslavia (UNPROFOR)
    February 1992-March 1995: "Initially established in Croatia to ensure demilitarization of designated areas. The mandate was later extended to Bosnia and Herzegovina to support the delivery of humanitarian relief, monitor "no fly zones" and "safe areas". The mandate was later extended to the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia for preventive monitoring in border areas."
