Catalina Island High Adventure is a program of the Orange County Council, Boy Scouts of America. We offer weeklong educational, guided treks in and around historic Santa Catalina Island, California. We are headquartered at White’s Landing, which is between Avalon and Two Harbors, and about 26 miles from the Council’s Sea Base in Newport Beach.
Although we are part of the Orange County
Council, BSA, we are NOT a Boy Scout camp;
we are a “portal” to high adventure.
There are certainly opportunities for Scout
advancement, but that is not our primary goal.
Our programs are available to both scouts
and the general public.
With the help of the Catalina Island Conservancy,
Catalina Island High Adventure has developed
challenging backpack, mountain bike, and kayak
treks that take our participants to amazing
places where they see and accomplish more
than they ever thought possible, and are unique
to Santa Catalina Island. Our programs emphasize
island history, ecology, wildlife observation,
conservation, team building, personal growth,
and lifelong memories.
The journey begins on the boat trip to the island when dolphins, sunfish, or even whales are likely to make an appearance. After an opening campfire and a good night’s sleep in the White’s Landing base camp, participants take off on an adventure that they will never forget.
This summer we are offering an intro SCUBA/Backpack combo trek, and a week-long PADI certification. Participants in both courses will work out of White's Landing base camp.
The intro 'Discover SCUBA' combo will include three days of SCUBA, then two or three days of backpacking.
All travel, equipment rental and food is included in the price.
