A United Nations expert commission accused Iraq yesterday of deliberately hiding significant quantities of illicit ballistic missiles, poison gases and germ weapons at sites controlled by the country's elite military and security forces that Iraq has kept the commission from inspecting.
THE HOSTILITY of much of the Arab world to the latest US strikes against Iraq demonstrates how the coalition of Western and Arab states, which briefly united against Saddam Hussein's invasion of Kuwait, has finally collapsed.
US missile strikes against Iraq, now something of an annual event, do little to weaken Saddam's power and much to increase general sympathy for the Iraqi leader in the Arab world.
