Union Bank of Switzerland (UBS) is the country's largest full-service bank
and a globally important institution in wholesale financial services. Its
head office is located in Zurich (CH-8021 Zurich, Bahnhofstrasse 45, Telephone
+41 1 234 11 11, Fax +41 1 236 51 11).
UBS operates 324 branches and subsidiaries in Switzerland, and 69 branches,
subsidiaries and representative offices outside Switzerland. Total headcount
in Switzerland is 21'600, outside Switzerland 7,500.
As of June 30, 1996 total assets amounted to CHF 416.0 billion, group profit
for the first half of 1996 to CHF 1,109 million (full year 1995: CHF 1,683
million). The financial year ends December 31.
The shares of UBS are listed at the stock markets of Zurich, Frankfurt and
Tokyo. A sponsered ADR programme offers access to UBS shares in the US.
The Board of Directors is chaired by Robert Studer, the Group Executive
Board by Mathis Cabiallavetta.
Members of the Group Executive Board are the heads of the Group divisions
Corporate and Institutional Finance (Pierre de Weck), Trading and Sales,
Risk Management (Werner Bonadurer), General Banking NRC (Karl Janjöri),
Private Banking and Institutional Asset Management (Arthur Decurtins), Group

of Region Switzerland (Stephan Haeringer).
UBS Group is split into five geographic Regions: Switzerland (Stephan Haeringer),
Europe (Felix Zumbach), North America (Richard C. Capone), Japan (Peter
