total of 974. Kelly McCall paced Carolina with a 79-77-81--237 total.
Top ranked Arizona St. won the tournament with a 915 total.
Carolina finished in third place in the Lady Tar Heel Invitational held Sept. 27-29 at Finley Golf Course in Chapel Hill. Carolina's three round total of 911 left them three strokes behind tournament champion Tennessee. The University of Kentucky finished second with a 910 total. Carolina's Kelly McCall was the individual champion with a 69-70-72--211 total. Lauri Berles of Kentucky finished a distant second, seven strokes behind McCall. Coach Sally Austin's Tar Heels finished second in the Lady Seminole Invitational Sept. 13-15. Carolina finished four shots behind tournament champion Alabama. Marcy Newton finished second overall with a two-over-par 221 total, while Kelly McCall took fourth place with a three-day total of 226. Newton was playing in her first tournament as a Tar Heel. Carolina's next tournament will be the Lady Palladin Invitational Oct. 18-20 at Greenville, S.C. The tournament will be played on the Furman University Golf Course. |
