In 15 years of unparalleled excellence in broadcast journalism, Loren Legarda has become one of the most awarded and respected media practitioners in the field of News and Current Affairs.
Known for her integrity, vision and balanced reporting, Loren received the prestigious T-O-Y-M award in 1992 and the Ten Outstanding Women in the Nation's Service or T-O-W-N-S in 1995.
Twice recognized by the Philippine Movie Press Club as the Star Awards' Best Female Newscaster in 1992 and 1995, as well as Best Magazine Show Host for 1993, 1992, 1988, and 1987, Loren is likewise a recipient of the Gawad CCP para sa Telebisyon, and is included in the Catholic Mass Media Awards Hall of Fame.
She was the recipient of the 1995 Ninoy Aquino Fellowship Award given by the U.S. Government and the Ninoy Aquino Foundation, the professional achievement award from the U.P College of Mass Communications in 1990, the Young Achiever's Award for Media and Journalism in the same year, and a special award for Distinguished TV Journalism from the Rotary Club of Manila in 1987.
A staunch crusader for the environment, Loren is a Lieutenant Colonel in the AFP Reserved Corps, graduating at the top of her class from the National Defense College in 1993, and was conferred the title of Ba'i Macalangcap by the Marawi Sultanate League, making her an honorary Muslim Princess. She is a wife and a mother to two young sons.
