In 1995, we were the first clip-art publisher to fit 100,000 images on CDs. However, when I asked my software engineers to squeeze 600,000 images into a CD package they all laughed at me! I learned it would take over one-hundred CDs and a six-thousand page manual to hold a collection of that size - costing well over seven-hundred dollars.

Still, my request challenged our R&D department. Soon after they discovered the Internet - which turned out to be a perfect way to distribute our huge archive - at a tiny fraction the cost of CDs.  It took awhile to work out the kinks, but here it is...
