PENGUINS SIGN GOALTENDER PETER SKUDRA

PITTSBURGH - The Pittsburgh Penguins have signed goaltender Peter Skudra, it was announced today by Penguins General Manager Craig Patrick.
Skudra, 24, invited to training camp on a tryout basis, leads the Penguins in the pre-season with a 0.85 goals against average in three games, allowing one goal in 70:30 minutes. He shared a shutout with Ken Wregget vs Detroit Sept. 16, and leads the team with a .966 save percentage.
The 6’1", 182 pound native of Riga, Latvia split the 1996-97 season between Johnstown (ECHL) and Hamilton (AHL). With Hamilton, Skudra posted a 3.75 goals against average and an 8-16-2 record in 32 games. He played in four games with Johnstown, and was 2-1-0 with a 3.30 goals against average.
Skudra split the 1995-96 season between Erie and Johnstown (ECHL), playing 42 games and posting a 3.72 goals against average and 15-19-0 record. He played in 33 games with Greensboro (ECHL) in 1994-95, compiling a 13-9-0 record and a 4.20 goals against average.
