Welcome to the Political Science Department at Oakland University. This department has nearly 250 majors in its two undergraduate degree programs: the BA in Political Science and the BS in Public Administration and Public Policy. We also have 83 students in the MPA program, the largest graduate program in the College of Arts and Sciences.
We have 12 full time faculty whose specialties cover the spectrum of political science field: American government and politics, comparative politics, international politics and public administration. The part time faculty consists of judges, city managers, and administrators of non-profit organizations who lend real-life experiences and expertise to the courses they teach.
The strength of this department lies in its ability to emphasize teaching while at the same time encouraging faculty to engage in research and public service activities. The Public Affairs Research Laboratory (PARL), which is affiliated with the department, provides services to local governments and municipalities. It also provides opportunities for research for our students.
