COUNTRY MUSIC HITMAKER CLAY WALKER SELECTED AS
CMT SEPTEMBER SHOWCASE ARTIST
"CMT Showcase" To Be Recorded At Walker’s Texas Ranch
CMT:   Country Music Television will feature hitmaker Clay Walker, star of one of 1997's more successful country music concert tours, as September Showcase Artist. Walker has recorded eight No. 1 single records and recently released his fourth album, "Rumor Has It," which debuted at No. 4 on Billboard’s Top Country Album Chart..
CMT will profile Walker on CMT SHOWCASE, a 30-minute weekly interview and video program. The first episode will premiere Tuesday, September 2 at 10:00 PM, ET. A different episode will be telecast Fridays, September 5, 12, 19, and 26 at 11:30 PM, ET repeats Saturday at 12:30 PM, ET; Sunday at 3:30 PM, ET; and Tuesday at 10:00 PM, ET).
Walker credits CMT with boosting his own success as well as the popularity of country music. "I have been blessed by many things in my career, including the fact that my music videos can be seen by millions of people around the world because of CMT," Walker said. "Without CMT, country music would not have made such tremendous strides over the past few years. I am honored to be named CMT Showcase Artist."
Walker’s Brenham, Texas, ranch is the setting for CMT SHOWCASE throughout September. Walker discusses his newest album, "Rumor Has It," which he co-produced, as well as his current concert tour. Walker is headlining the Four Star Blowout Tour, which is one of country music’s five highest-grossing tours of 1997 and one of country music’s ten highest-grossing tours ever. Walker will continue headlining the tour through December. Previous tour performers with Walker included Terri Clark, James Bonamy and Emilio. On the personal side, Walker talks about being diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 1996 and how it has changed his life.
Chris Parr, Director, Programming, CMT, said Walker’s videos consistently break into the weekly Top 12 chart on CMT. "Ten of Clay’s 11 videos have charted on CMT, which is an outstanding track record," Parr said. "These accomplishments speak well of the quality of Clay’s videos, his vocal performance and song selection, as well as favorable response from CMT viewers."
CMT will feature Walker’s videos throughout September, including "What’s It To You," "Live Until I Die," "Dreaming With My Eyes Open," "If I Could Make a Living," "This Woman And This Man," "Who Needs You Baby," "Hypnotize The Moon," and "Rumor Has It."
