Pittsfield, Maine is a town with a thriving economy buoyed by a dozen major industries anchored by C.M. Almy & Son, Inc., Cianbro, Edwards Co., Pittsfield Woolen Yarns, San Antonio Shoe, Sonoco Maine X-Ray, Hancock Lumber and others.

Health care facilities include a modern 36-bed hospital with a full-range of outpatient services and a new Professional Center on South Main Street. Construction for a 4-1/2 million dollar expansion at the hospital began in the summer of 1991.

The Central Maine Egg Festival, featuring breakfast eggs and luncheon omelets prepared in the world's largest frying pan, is held each year in Late July in Manson Park, a lovely 70 acre recreational tract along the banks of the Sebasticook River ... The Egg Festival attracts thousands of people to enjoy a parade, Kiwanis Karnival, craft fair, many contests, Festival Queen, music and fireworks.

Other recreational facilities include the Johnson W. Parks Golf Course, Pinnacle Ski Area, Tennis Courts and several ball fields and playgrounds.
