Founded as Chester College in 1839, our institution in 1996 adopted the new title of University College Chester. These three words stress the standing of our academic work, our commitment to sustaining a lively and supportive community and also our location in one of the country's finest cities.

The City of Chester is undoubtedly one of the College's main attractions. But students also appreciate the opportunity we offer to study for university awards within a community which, at a personal level, is on a manageable scale. I believe that the College also takes very seriously its obligations to help each of our students to gain personal confidence, succeed academically and secure employment on graduation.
