elcome to Selena Sol's Public Domain Script Archive, a public service website developed out of the late-night scripting expeditions of Selena Sol and Gunther Birznieks. Feel free to browse through the resources we have compiled and sign the guestbook or the Mailing List if you like what you find. Also, to discuss installation and customization issues with others, please visit the The Selena Sol Script Archive Discussion Forum generously maintained and donated by John Cesta.

Why is This Page Here?
The goal of the site is mainly to document the CGI work that Selena Sol and Gunther Birznieks have done so that perhaps other programmers can learn from the way we do things and hopefully evolve our ideas so we can learn too.In the following pages we have included both working examples of our scripts as well as the text of the code so that you can have one window open with the code and the other with the working script. Hopefully this design will help you figure out how we did what we did, so that you can take the ideas and run with them for your own needs.
Other Things You Should Know
These scripts come with no promises or guarantees. The original intent was not to distribute code, but to share ideas. As it so happens, many people have been able to successfully port these scripts to their servers around the world. But customizing is "not" a 30 minute process! We do our best to write simple and portable code, but what you see is what you get. Better documentation and better code will come in time, but we both have "real" jobs and part-time school, so be patient. Also, please read the FAQ before emailing us with questions :) and by all means, if you succesfully debug a script on your server, please send a description of what you did to selena@eff.org so we can add it to the FAQ and the lists of offsite examples. Also, if you are a Java developer as well as a CGI developer, check out Microline Software where Selena Sol just began working. Microline is one of the premier Java Tools Developers and has what you need to make all those boring AWT-based applets professional looking.
Oh, right, one more thing. Because the EFF server has been being hit hard because of this site, SAMS Publishing company agreed to donate mirror space. If you have trouble getting through to the main site, try theSAMSNET Mirror or Taro Fukado's Japanaese Mirror Site.
Finally, before going straight to the archives, please read through the following information.

If you support freeware and have some scripts to contribute, please send the functional URL and the plain text URL to selena@eff.org so that we can list them as offsite resources. Also, if you use one of our scripts, please let us know. We would like to create a link to your site in order to add depth to the presentation of the scripts by allowing people to learn from others' interpretations. Similarly, please consider adding to the Customization FAQ by emailing us your experiences. Further, as always, Selena Sol's personal Intellectual property beliefs go for this page. However, please be aware that in the process of creating these scripts, many others have helped knowingly and not (as is the way of software engineering), so be especially moral about your usage of this work. Finally, if we've helped you in any way, you are now obligated (on your conscience) to answer "two" others' questions or help a newbie get online. Spread the meme, build a community of friends!
