Composition of the Statewide Network

LEGAL's Statewide Network will be broken up into nine different areas represented by a heirarchy of coordinators. Those nine "areas" will be:

  1. Acadiana
  2. Capital Area
  3. CenLA
  4. Houma-Thibodaux
  5. New Orleans
  6. Northeast
  7. Northshore
  8. Northwest
  9. Southwest
The Statewide Network will be coordinated by the Statewide Coordinator.

The Statewide Coordinator will:

  1. represent the state through Area Coordinators to the Executive Director,
  2. coordinate with the Executive Director response to legislation,
  3. advise the Executive Director, and
  4. report to the Executive Director on progress being made within the State.
Each area will be coordinated by an Area Coordinator.

The Area Coordinator will:

  1. represent his/her area through District Coordinators,
  2. coordinate response with the Statewide Coordinator to legislation within his/her area,
  3. advise his/her Statewide Coordinator, and
  4. report to his/her Statewide Coordinator on progress being made within the Area.
Each area will contain several House and Senate districts each of which will be coordinated in turn by a District Coordinator.

The District Coordinator will:

  1. represent his/her district through Legislative Contacts,
  2. coordinate response with the Area Coordinator to legislation within his/her district,
  3. advise his/her Area Coordinator, and
  4. report to his/her Area Coordinator on progress being made within the District.
Each House and Senate District will be represented by as many Legislative Contacts as the District Coordinator is able to identify.

The Legislative Contact will:

  1. contact his/her legislator(s) regarding legislation targeted by LEGAL,
  2. advise his/her District Coordinator, and
  3. report to his/her District Coordinator on progress being made with his/her legislator(s).
