The Del Valle Independent School District educates over 5,000 students in Travis County within the State of Texas (USA). Del Valle is situated in the scenic rural countryside of southeast Austin and Travis County. Spanning 174 square miles, the district serves the urban communities of Montopolis, Frontier Valley, Sundridge Park and Pleasant Valley, and the rural communities of Garfield, Creedmore, Mustang Ridge, Elroy, Pilot Knob, Webberville, and Hornsby Bend.
The area is home to a number of high tech companies, the largest of which are Advanced Micro Devices, Sematech, and Tokyo Electron. Del Valle is also the home of the new Austin- Bergstrom International Airport scheduled to open in May, 1999, an event that is expected to cause dramatic growth and change in the community.
Located only a few minutes from downtown Austin, the state capitol, and the University of Texas campus, Del Valle I.S.D. has all the characteristics of a metropolitan city, yet retains the history and charm of the communities it serves.
The District is governed by a School Board that meets in a regular meeting monthly, and is composed of nine Board Members.
