Bigger, Better than Ever

Our 12th Year!

August 16-21, 1998
University of California, Santa Cruz

In the highly technical world of UNIX systems, SCO Forum is a refreshing departure from the norm. Held at the beautiful University of California, Santa Cruz campus, the yearly event creates a unique learning experience for UNIX System professionals with a heady mixture of education, fellowship, and just plain good fun.

SCO Forum attracts people from all over the world and from all levels of the server business. The result is an environment that is highly charged yet pleasantly informal, leading to spur-of-the-moment discussions about major industry issues. These talks can involve everyone from a CEO of a large corporation to a 20-year-old midnight hacker, and can take place under a towering redwood tree between sessions or overlooking Monterey Bay during lunch. It’s not uncommon to see the outcome of these discussions reverberate though the computer industry months later.

That’s why SCO Forum has a devoted following. During the kick-off session, dozens of veterans proudly raise their hands to claim attendance at every SCO Forum since the initial 1987 event. Some of the Forum faithful make obsessed Grateful Dead fans seem like weekend concert goers from the suburbs.

"I wouldn’t miss it for anything," said one veteran SCO Forum attendee. "I plan my summers around it every year."
