HEADLINES - Weekend, May 16th-17th

Armageddon & Others: Click the thumbnails above for bigger pictures of Liv Tyler, Ben Affleck & a spacesuited Bruce Willis in "Armageddon", a promo image for "Small Soldiers", and the poster for the upcoming Cinderella remake "Ever After". Thanks to 'Pauline', & 'Eric L.'.

I Still Know...: In a recent interview with Jennifer Love Hewitt, they showed a clip from this upcoming horror sequel. 'Bradshaw' has the detils, though be warned as there is a fairly big spoiler for that clip in it:

Today on MTV Live Jennifer Love Hewitt was the guest and she showed a new clip from this film. The clip was the teaser that she said will be shown before screenings of Godzilla. She said the film is half way done with shooting and they will next be filming in a hotel in Mexico. The clip shown had Jennifer's character talking with her psychiatrist in front of a mirror. They were talking about how their isnt really a man with a hook. They show the man with the hook walking through the hall as they are talking then he smashes through the mirror they are talking into.

Carrie 2: Hot off the rumour mill today is the gossip that United Artists have apparently fired Director Robert Mandel from this horror sequel. He has been replaced by Katt Shea ("Poison Ivy") who began first day of shooting yesterday. Thanks to 'Anonymous'.

Mortal Kombat Krusades & MK3: Filming on the upcoming TV series "Mortal Kombat Krusades" looks supposedly set to begin in about 3 weeks around Orlando & Osceola County in Florida, while the majority of the series will be shot at Disney-MGM Studios. No casting as yet, but the series looks set for a syndicated release as early as this Fall. Meanwhile, MK Dominion reports that Robin Shou & Sandra Hess have signed on for a third film in the series, to be released in 1999 and produced by Lawrence Kasanoff and Alison Savitch. The filmmakers this time want a much more solid storyline than last year's "Mortal Kombat: Annihilation". Thanks to 'BM' & 'Nosaj'.

Season Finales: Left are some images from the season finales of "The X-Files" & "Star Trek: Voyager". "The X-Files" finale - entitled 'The End' guest stars Mimi Rogers ("Lost in Space") and is a direct lead in to the upcoming movie. that episode airs this Sunday (17th) at 9pm on FOX. The "Voyager" finale - 'Hope and Fear', isn't a cliffhanger but does leave some loose threads which will be tied up next season. It airs next Wednesday (20th) at 9pm on UPN. You can download the promos for both below, thanks to Vidiot & Zone 44.

Female Casting: Mr. Showbiz reports that Mira Sorvino is in discussions with Director Ron Maxwell ("Gettysburg") about playing 'Joan of Arc' in a four-hour movie about this famous young French woman who lead their medieval armies against the English. This would put the actress in direct competition with Milla Jovovich who will also be playing the famous figure in the $45 million feature her husband Luc Besson ("Nikita", "The Fifth Element") is shooting this summer. Meanwhile in other casting news (of the more unsubstantiated kind), its been mentioned that Demi Moore has apparently beaten Nicole Kidman, Meg Ryan and Winona Ryder for the role of Martha Marie in the film "Passion in Mind". Thanks to 'C.C.' & 'Pauline'.

Godzilla: More full-body images continue coming in (though I don't think many care by now) however with only days to go it looks likely all images will be denied until the film itself is out. Apparently the best shot yet is a completed FX shot of the entire creature in the junior novelisation of the movie, so check that out if you can. The big news over the end of last week is that the early estimates of "Godzilla" opening on a massive 6,000 screens were incorrect, in fact it looks set to open on approx. 7,363 - a new record. Australian fans may have something to cheer about as its rumoured that Columbia/Tristar plans to hold advance screenings of the film on the weekend before the official Australian release date on Thursday June 11th. Thanks to 'Rhys'.

The X-Files Movie: The commercial posted in RealVideo the other day is now available in AVI format. You can download that file from two locations below, with a big thanks to Ryan Salmon for them.

Vampires: A non-spoiler, very positive review from 'SickBoy' about this latest flick from Director John Carpenter.

HEADLINES - Thursday, May 14th

Images: Three stills today, one from the Jennifer Love Hewitt/Jerry O'Connell comedy "Can't Hardly Wait", one of Matthew Broderick in "Godzilla", and finally the last blurry thumbnail is a new illustration of Godzilla's full body from a recent magazine article (click on it for a bigger, clearer picture but you may be spoiled). Thanks to Glenn's Movie Montage, Faphnir & 'Crimester'.

The X-Files Movie: The always superb 'fmluder' has done some digging and found the first copy of "The X-Files Movie" official poster and click on the thumbnail left to take a squizz at a bigger version. Also available is one of the awesome new TV commercials for the film, however only in RealVideo format (AVI coming soon). As a thanks, check out his great X-Files Movie Site.

Die Hard: Ignition/Blast Off: Tuesday you heard that 'the powers that be' were interested in re-modelling Kevin J. Anderson's script "Ignition" into the next "Die Hard" film. Now the intrepid 'Edison Carter' has been in contact with Anderson who says he hasn't heard about this but then again he's not in a position to hear the latest goings on. The writer also commented about recent talk that "Ignition" sounded very much like another upcoming project "Blast Off", saying that "I feel compelled to point out that IGNITION was *first* by a long shot, and that BLAST OFF was a direct ripoff of it, very quickly after Universal sank big bucks into IGNITION". And while "Blast Off" seems a clone of his work, he considers the idea of Bruce Willis in "Ignition" sounds like a good form of revenge. Thanks again to 'Edison C.'

??? on the Devil's Plain: 'Sonora 105' has sent in this fairly juicy scoop. I can't confirm it, but its definitely interesting:

After the I AM LEGEND fiasco, it seems Scott Free has another big-budget summer film in its back pocket that's probably going to be set at Sony Pictures (to hell with Warners, huh?). Rumour has it there's a new project hitting the fast lane with Brothers Scott and Tony; a very unusual piece of work, indeed. No, this is not the Wagner-based "Tristan" project. It's a Western action-adventure, with a major twist, in that it also contains a heavy percentage of horror, and---brace yourself---fantasy! They haven't yet decided on the main character's name, however, so the title of the project is dangling, although it has been confirmed that it's " ON THE DEVIL'S PLAIN." Basically, it's the story of an arse-kicking English ship-captain and his exploits in 19th century America and Mexico, which go from scary to downright mind blowing. Apparently, this grizzled English bastard goes after some sort of off-world evil that has set up shop near the mountains of 19th century San Francisco. A copy of this work was recently sent to ILM for assessment of the special effects involved, that is, can they be realistically achieved with today's technology and not look like a stupid cartoon (ala LOST IN SPACE). The kicker? Scott Free was made aware of this project through Ridley's buddy Howard Stringer, who just happens to be the Chairman of Sony Pictures Entertainment. Anyway, Sting has been mentioned to be filling the title role, but this sounds extremely, extremely dubious, given that Sting is not known for his Oscar-winning presence, nor is he known for putting arses in seats. Danny Glover is being targeted as the second-in-command of the cast. A western-fantasy-horror buddy film, by God!This project is being primed as a possible sequel-generating, merchandising bonanza, by the way. Inside word on the script is that it's totally fresh stuff, extremely exciting and highly imaginative, with a suite of really cool and likable characters, including a totally hip American-Indian Medicine Man. No word on the writer as yet, nor the agencies involved. Dante Ferretti (HAMLET, DRACULA) is rumoured to be coming on as Production Designer (I love Dante!), and the guy who did costumes for STAR WARS is being sought for, you guessed it, costuming (was his name John Mollo, or something?). No word on whether Ridley or Tony will direct, but it may actually turn out to be neither.

Inspector Gadget: Variety reports that Matthew Broderick ("Godzilla") & Rupert Everett ("My Best Friend's Wedding") have been cast in the upcoming live-action version of this classic animated series, and is expected to be the big summer movie for Disney in 1999. Broderick is getting a cool $5 million for the role of 'Gadget' which will be slightly smarter and more Jimmy Stewart-esque than the bumbling like detective he was on the show. The film is expected to be FX heavy, especially in the origin scene in which Gadget chases down the villain (Everett) and both are caught in an explosion. The villain loses a hand and replaces it with a metal one (filled with lots of retractable features) - becoming the infamous 'Claw'. Gadget meanwhile is re-animated by sexy surgeon Brenda who gives him a human appearance but his arms and legs can extend and are full of useful accessories. Cameron Diaz is the only name to have been offered the role of Brenda. Director David Kellogg ('Seinfeld/Superman' commercial) will be helming it and the film is due out June next year. Makes one wonder whether brainy kid 'Penny' and that smart dog are also in it (I vote for a pig-tailed Denise Richards, and a CG canine with Robin Williams voice). Thanks to 'Voyuer X' & 'C.C.'

Goodfellas 2: Ever bumped into Robert DeNiro while leaving Geography class? That's the kind of thing happening now in New York. 'Ogsmios' will explain:

About two weeks ago, Robert DeNiro was at my girlfriend’s high school, Tottenville High School in Staten Island, New York to be exact. It was kept pretty tight lipped, but they were casting extras for a school-ish scene in the movie. She forgot her permission slip and missed the chance to be in it, but she said that the movie was "Goodfellas 2". She practically bumped into DeNiro in the hallway. I was skeptical about the whole thing until I heard from a bunch of people during work, and the local mall, that her words were indeed true.

Armageddon: Remember the hour-long footage of "Armageddon" that's been going around certain meetings and exhibitions? Well 'Ash Raimi' has managed to sneak a look at it and provided a part-description/part-review. I must warn there are MAJOR spoilers ahead, so don't come crying to me if you can't control yourself (do what I do, shoot a neighbour!). Thanks again 'Ash Raimi'.

"Armageddon" footage description (Major Spoilers)

Reviews: A non-spoiler and positive review for the comedy "BASEketball", and a non-spoiler and negative review for Terry Gilliam's "Fear & Loathing in Las Vegas". Thanks to 'Light House Shines' & 'The Sausage King of Chicago' for it.

HEADLINES - Tuesday, May 12th

Various Pics: Two awesome new images from "Godzilla", Bruce Willis in "Armageddon", Harrison Ford & Anne Heche in "6 Days, 7 Nights", A toy general (voiced by Tommy Lee Jones) in "Small Soldiers", and Antonio Banderas in "The Mask of Zorro". Thanks to fmluder, David O., and Lincoln

The X-Files Movie: The reason for the 'disappointing' reactions at recent test screenings may have been explained. Seems that Chris Carter held back 'key scenes' during the advanced test screenings of the films to stop the big revelations leaking out onto the Internet before the film's release. Very smart man. Thanks to 'Jaime P.'

The Hobbit: 'The Wellington Domain' reports that casting is underway for Director Peter Jackson's upcoming live-action version of the J.R.R. Tolkien novel classic "The Hobbit". Those wanting to be extras on the film have to be 'under 4ft 2in' or 'over 6ft 8in' to get the parts. The extreme heights are needed for FX testing to make the main actors in the film look smaller or bigger. Shooting is set to begin next month. Thanks to 'PBA'.

Ghostbusters 3: Dan Aykroyd revealed in a recent interview that he had already met with Harold Ramis about the script and confirmed the pair are writing it with another, younger writer (no name mentioned). Ivan Reitman will be onboard as exec. producer while Ramis will also direct it. Thanks to 'Marco'.

Die Hard: Ignition: I've heard this scoop before but ignored it. So the second time I got it I sat up and listened, and it may in fact be right on the money. Here's what 'Matt' has to say:

"Fox is allegedly looking at buying the Kevin Anderson book 'Ignition', about a gang of terrorists who take over the space shuttle during launch. I read the book last year and it's a pretty standard thriller, but Fox apparently want to call it - DIE HARD: IGNITION! The rumour is that they will scrap the lead character, an astronaut who misses out on the launch because of a broken leg and ends up killing all the terrorists, and replacing him with Detective John McLean. The book would definitely suit the Die Hard franchise, with a few tweaks here and there."

The Bible: Variety reports that due to the massive success of the recent mini-series "Merlin", NBC is planning a 12-hour epic based on early stories in the Old Testament and culminating in the birth of Christ. The series will be shown over six consecutive nights, Sir Richard Attenbrough will be executive producer, and the real kicker is that the estimated budget could go as high as $150 MILLION (more than double that of any previous mini-series). Thanks to 'Dan the Man'.

The Pink Panther: The Revival: Canadian 'Tribute' Magazine reports that several big stars are interested in playing the bumbling Inspector Clouseau in this upcoming re-make of the original hit. Names mentioned include Rick Moranis, Tom Cruise, Ben Affleck, Casper Van Dien, Ralph Fiennes, and Rowan Atkinson. Thanks to 'Metler Man'.

Editor's Note: Sorry for no update yesterday but I've been off-line for many hours thanks to my brand-new hard disk crashing for god knows what reason. All last week's E-Mails have been lost I'm afraid as well. Most of this week will be spent rebuilding the files. Sorry if it causes any inconvenience.

Rumour Fallthrough: Two recent rumours that have popped up on this page recently have now been rendered void. The opening script sequence to "Halloween: H20" has been changed, so the old version which was posted is now going to be fairly different (sources say same basic layout, though the details are very different). The second is the Claudia Christian in "Star Trek: Rebellion" rumour (which still is unconfirmable), seems now that her cameo fell through due to too high payment demands.

Godzilla Commercials: The awesome Barry's "Temple of Godzilla" has digitised many of the commercials for "Godzilla" airing on US TV right now. Thanks also to 'Crithon'.

Page with over 8 Commercials

Reviews: Three big reviews today, one for the controversial "Apt Pupil", one for the black comedy "Very Bad Things", and the seventh one I've posted for "The Truman Show" (all seven have been very positive). Only the "Very Bad Things" one has any spoilers. Thanks to 'Sick Boy', 'The KJB' & 'Nowhere Man'.
