MISSION STATEMENT

To continue providing a format for business in which we can share and grow in ideas, leadership, community commitment and economic vitality. And that we base our decision to enhance the opportunities for today and future generations.

ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT

  • Work with the Elmore County Impact Steering Committee, ESISC, to bring new jobs into the area.
  • Maintain open lines of communication with business and public agencies to encourage growth and expansion of existing businesses.
  • Maintain liaisons with city, county, state and federal government agencies and to promote business in the Mountain Home

AGRI-BUSINESS

  • To increase awareness of overall economic impact of agriculture in the Mountain home area.
  • Promote value-added food processing operations for the area.
  • Promote agriculture expansion and alternative crops.

TRAVEL & TOURISM

  • Promote the construction and operation of a Visitor Info Center.
  • Work with the SW Idaho Travel Council in developing programs that will bring visitors to the area.
  • Work with local groups to promote activities that will bring visitors to the area for increased consumer activity.

EDUCATION

  • Keep members informed as to the purpose and activities of the Chamber of Commerce.
  • provide good communications between the business and educational communities.
  • Support efforts to see that local public schools receive their proper share of state funding.
  • Support efforts to see that local public schools receive their proper share of federal impact aid funding.
  • Work with the school district to assure that students are getting the preparation necessary to enter higher education and the labor force.

MILITARY AFFAIRS COMMITTEE

  • Promote the expansion, development and effectiveness of Mountain Home Air Force Base, or any other military development the Committee wishes to support.
  • Keep Idaho’s Congressional delegation informed as to the needs of Mountain Home Air Force Base.
  • Promote the Air Force to keep Mountain Home Air Force Base operating.
  • Coordinate efforts between the Air Force and Idaho Air National Guard.
  • Promote the State of Idaho range proposal or reasonable alternative.

MERCHANTS COMMITTEE

  • Promote the expansion, development and effectiveness of the Mountain Home retail business community.

Air Force Appreciation Day, Merchants’ Western Crazee Dazes, Candyland Christmas Parade, Santa Saturdays, Agriculture Night Dinner, AFAD Fun Run, Chamber Golf-BBQ Auction, Man and Women of the Year Award, Desert Mountain Visitor Center Operation, Teachers Fall Welcome Back Continental Breakfast, Downtown Trash Container Program, Annual Installation Banquet, Right Start Military Information Program.
