Posted by hal-j

Well, I've been talking about doing this for a while, and I finally got around to doing it. I put up a script that will spit out an easy to parse headline file. If you'd like to incorporate Palmstation headlines into your web site, look at this to see the file. (it wont look like much in the browser, but do a view source, it'll sort things out a bit ;)). I whipped up some example python code that can be used to generate a 'headlines.inc' file suitable for including...

PalmIII X news at News.Com
Posted by Wastrel
Posted on Sat Jan 23 17:09:46 1999
Here's another story about the PalmIII X - this one from C|Net's News.Com. They confirm 4Mb of RAM and a better screen. This one also has a lot of other juicy stuff. They talk about the Razor, and say it will be a 4Mb device, contrary to Mr. Snafu's comment. There's also a mention that there may be an upcoming color Palm device!

While you're...

Final Answer on the DiVinci matter
Posted by hal-j
Posted on Fri Jan 22 08:59:16 1999
Ok. I know that we all kinda assumed this from the get-go, but since the discussion was kinda started here, I figure we'll end it here as well. You'll recall that a week or so ago, there was an article posted here that contained a link to a story on the CES. Contained in that story was a mention of the DiVinci, saying that it can run Palm apps.
We all kinda thought that it was wrong, but I went ahead and emailed Royal,...

The author of this little goodie emailed me this morning telling me about the release of PalmSmear. I haven't tried it out yet, but it really seems interesting. Imagine Kai's Power Goo + animation all in one package, running on your Palm (OS2.0 or higher). Check it out, you can find it here.

For those who are interested, I've designed skins based on the PalmPilot. These skins are for Neoplanet, Winamp, PalmEfx, and MyPad. The Litestep theme is still under construction.

New version of the Palm III?!
Posted by hal-j
Posted on Thu Jan 21 15:56:59 1999
This article looks like a hot one! It talks about a new version of the Palm III, called the Palm III X. It sports 4 megs of RAM, a "cleaner screen", and a Microsoft Outlook conduit. Way cool, if you ask me. The article states that this unit will have a similar price to the current III, lowering the Palm III to a street of $299. The street date for this beast is Feb 23rd. The article also hints that there are other new features.

New Layout etc...
Posted by hal-j
Posted on Wed Jan 20 22:39:52 1999
As you can obviously tell, PalmStation has a new layout, and some slightly different colors. You'll notice that on the right side of the homepage, there are some new features (more to be added) including a Poll (For those slashdot readers here, you'll notice a striking similarity. While not %100 intentional, i *do* read that site many times daily, and love the look/feel. After all, my goal from the start was to make a slashdot-for-handhelds ;) ). The poll topic...

Posted by Wastrel
Posted on Wed Jan 20 14:36:04 1999
This story on TechWeb (which I found through PilotGear) talks about PDA products slated for release in 1999. It's an interesting read, especially for paragraph five which talks about upcoming Handspring devices, quoting a Handspring executive:

"We're developing handheld-computing products to reach broad markets, and we'd like to get in the $100...
