Browse Standard Documentation

Please note: Python documentation is released independently from the source release. This is documentation version 1.5.2b2, which is newer than the Python 1.5.1 release. The good news is that many modules and other features that were previously undocumented are now documented. However, occasionally the documentation refers to a feature that will only be available once Python 1.5.2 is released (we expect that this will happen very soon). We ask for your forgiveness for those few cases where these features haven't been clearly marked.

If you have comments or suggestions for the Python documentation, please send email to <python-docs@python.org>.

Documentation for older versions is also available online: version 1.4, version 1.5, version 1.5.1, version 1.5.1p1.

Tip: browse the standard library (the subdirectory Lib) and the standard collections of demos (Demo) and tools (Tools) that come with the source distribution. There's a lot you can learn from the source!
