||Words have magic, especially when they
come from the heart. They can touch us, move us, delight us, enlighten us, make us laugh,
make us cry, and both soften and enrich our deepest memories. They are the ties that bind
one stranger to another, often in friendship, sometimes in love, always in understanding.
You may call the words you write poems, verses, rhymes, songs, essays or
stories, but in the end it won't matter to any but yourself. They are words. They are
magic. They are instruments of understanding and comprehension. They are, above all else,
the Passions in Poetry.
This web site is about passion, and poetry, and words that
communicate deep and profound feelings of the heart and soul. It's about people. People
like you and me. People who have experienced life and love, the good and the bad, and wish
to share those feelings with others.
We're not here to judge you. We won't judge your words or your
techniques, and we certainly won't try to judge the validity of your feelings. We're here
not to judge, but to accept. And, perhaps if we're lucky, to learn. Please join us...
|Just Between You And Me
Our Passionate News section has a new column called Just Between You And Me, where you can get all the latest gossip
and news about the Poetry Internet. This week, we talk about how our web site was almost
completely written by a computer program...
|Exciting News Department
Passions in Poetry has contracted with a local publisher and will be putting
together an illustrated 200-page book of our favorite poetry this Spring. Contributors
will be selected from this website, as judged by the Visitors. There will be absolutely no
cost to those selected. So, please, everyone be sure to vote for your
favorites. (We'll be posting more information as it becomes available.)
|More Exciting News Department
Passions in Poetry is growing faster than Microsoft's bank account, and there seems
to be no end in sight. So it's time for yet another major change. By the
second week of January, we'll be on a brand new server -- and with our own domain name.
Don't worry. All your bookmarks will still work just fine. But the next time you click a
menu option, you just might not be in Kansas any more!
|New Feature Department
We think all of the poems at Passions in Poetry are very special ones. But some, it
seems, are more appropriate for mailing to special friends. They just seem to have a
Universal message that our Visitors want to share. To make it easier to find those poems,
we're now marking them within their individual sections. Look for the Blue Star to find our most
popular poems for sending to a friend.
