I'm originaly from Belorussia, not to far from Ukraina.My grandmother was a theacher of Russian, and her father was a teacher of Edish or Hibru, a'm not shure. About Busantine Empire and Khazars, they where not jewish, but they used jewish language,culture and religion, also they brough Jewish people, which were mostly traders, in Europe to help them with their trade. In Belorussia was a lot of places, where jewish people settled, they called "mestechkos", I think it was the same in Ukraina. But in Ukraina they were reduced by the kossaks army(called "pogroms"). It was custom for Ukrainen's kassaks.From Belorussia most of the jewish population escaped during the Nazi, for Ukraina's Jews it was more difficult to escape,because of this. |

Although Jewish, she, her mother and siblings all have/had a somewhat Asiatic cast, and I was persuaded that there was some Mongol or Turkic blood in my roots. Then, a few years ago, I read Arthur Koestler's book and became convinced that we are descended from the Khazars. This is something that I am eager to follow up on, so I was very excited to find your site. I'd be interested in knowing how you got into this subject. My 1st cousin once removed Howard Cherney has been very involved in researching this connection for some time. I believe that he is absolutly correct. I have traced the family back to 1725 and the records all have the name, even that early. The family trained and broke horses for the Russian army at least as far as family lore is concerned. I know that the totem for the Chernye tribe is a horse. |
