Useful material for English teachers and learners
in Norway and elsewhere
This website is revised and updated on a monthly/bimonthly basis. Check dates and news below to keep up with the changes.

Sep 30/98: From The Internet TESL Journal :

TESL/TEFL/TESOL/ESL/EFL/ESOL Links

Browse: Links for Students, Links for Teachers or What's New

January 17/99: All pages revised, lots of new links, resources and activities. First poems of '99.
June 24/99: Site is searchable. Research section revised with a lot of link on ICT and learning theory. Poems added.
Sep 11/99: A few add-ons, notably the f:a:s:t search engine (look in the Search department)

Grammar and Poetry

Learn grammar without noticing! Word classes are used as building blocks for poetry. Many examples from pupils - submit your own, it will be published here. You will find a similar one I made for the network of Norwegian schools at Skolenettet. You will also find additional examples of English lessons on the net, although pretty much of the information is in Norwegian.

Mazes...

... are fascinating. Try my virtual summer school in the UK or follow links to what others have created. An introduction to action mazes (Norwegian only).

Web Project

Example of Internet project with classes: The sea as a link between South and North Europe (a collaborative effort between schools in Italy, Norway, Portugal and Sweden). Totally pupil-run 1996/97, everything written and designed by pupils (mostly 16). Some material still in analog form only. I have published a short report, unfortunately in Norwegian only (so far).

(Re-)Sources for learners (and teachers!)

Newspapers, magazines, news services, institutions and other online resources. Good starting points for writing projects, discussions, interdisciplinary activities ...

Links & Activities

ESL/EFL sites with many excellent ideas for activities. Lesson plans too.

Literature

Authors, texts, reviews...

Sounds (and Sights)

Radio stations that broadcast by streaming sound files, no download! Listen to accents, use news and other programs as real-life listening exercises, discuss current events or get historical speeches from the archives.

ESL research

Some sites for teachers who want some theoretical aspects of IT and FLT. You will find quite a few references to Constructivism, Computer Supported Collaborative Learning and Problem-Based Learning.

Norwegian material in English

Looking for roots? Work? Norwegian info in English? Tourist information? A course in Norwegian? A wealth of material for those seeking or presenting Norwegian aspects of life.

Searching is an art

Apart from some well-known and lesser known but excellent search tools, this page offers dictionaries, encyclopedia, and libraries on-line.

Ha det bra! (just a short sound sample ca 20 Kb in .wav format. No commercial potential!
