The Grid Forum (www.gridforum.org) is an informal consortium of institutions and individuals working on wide area computing and computational grids: the technologies that underlie such activities as the NCSA Alliance's National Technology Grid, NPACI's Metasystems efforts, NASA's Information Power Grid, DOE ASCI's DISCOM program, and other activities worldwide.
The Grid Forum is modeled, in many respects, on the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) and focuses on the promotion of Grid computing via the documentation of "best practices" and "standards", with an emphasis on rough consensus and running code. The processes under which the Grid Forum are still being established and will be discussed at the next meeting.
The work of the Grid Forum is done within its various Working Groups (see detailed list). Participation is open and encouraged.
