Welcome! to Baseball America Online
by Will Lingo

Thanks for visiting Baseball America Online. We're glad you're here and hope you'll stop by often. We're excited about the debut of our new site and think you'll enjoy what we've put together for you. This isn't our first effort on the Web, but it's the first time we've had our own site at our own address. We couldn't be more excited.

What you'll find at Baseball America Online will be every bit as interesting and insightful as what you're used to finding in the printed pages of Baseball America. In short, the best coverage of baseball anywhere. And it's information that hasn't previously been available anywhere on the Internet. I'm sure you've noticed sites that, shall we say, have information quite similar to what you find in BA. Now you can finally get it straight from the source.

We're the ones who talk to the players, the managers, the coaches, the scouts, the general managers and people at every level of the game. You've seen it in our print edition, and now you'll see it on the Web. You'll find coverage of every level of baseball, and as our tradition dictates, the focus will be on player development. You'll find plenty of draft coverage, what to look for from the major league and minor league seasons, all of our prospect ratings from the offseason, as well as coverage of college and high school baseball. With the minor league season getting under way today, you'll want to check with us every morning and throughout the day for minor league scores, highlights and statistics.

You'll see many of the things that you're also used to seeing in our print edition on the Website, but you'll see plenty of Web-only content as well, including weekly college and minor league notebooks from our experts. When a big baseball event happens, such as the College World Series, you'll get coverage live from the site. Limitations of space and time that apply to the magazine don't apply on the Web.

In short, Baseball America Online will bring you everything you've come to expect from Baseball America and everything you've come to expect from the Web. Online chats, contests, surveys, breaking news, up-to-the-minute stats, it'll all be here. Baseball America Online is not today what it will be a year from now or even a month from now. But it's here, and we know you'll love it.

Thanks to all the people at Baseball America, Howe Sportsdata, Two Dog Media (who designed the site) and Mindspring (our service provider) for helping to make Baseball America Online a reality. We think you'll particularly appreciate the site design. No spinning baseballs or huge animated graphics to slow down your navigation around the site. Just great baseball information, beautifully presented.

Baseball America Online also brings a host of new marketing opportunities for you and your company. If you'd like to find out more about those, contact our advertising department at advertising@baseballamerica.com and they'll give you the scoop.

I've only scratched the surface of what you'll find at Baseball America Online. So jump in, take a few minutes to wander around, and please let us know what you think. Contact me directly or drop a line to letters@baseballamerica.com. Thanks for joining us as we enter a new age for Baseball America.

Sincerely,

Will Lingo
