FIRST LADY PAT FORDICE ANNOUNCES PLANS OF BEING KNIGHTED IN NEW YORK THIS WEEKEND

First Lady Pat Fordice will be knighted by the Sovereign Order of the Orthodox Knights Hospitaller of Saint John of Jerusalem, Sunday, November 9, 1997, at 2:00 p.m. at the Cathedral of the Holy Virgin Protection in New York City. She was selected for this honor because of her leadership in the St. Petersburg project, an effort to ship medical supplies to St. Petersburg, Russia.

Mrs. Fordice stated, "It is truly an honor to be selected for knighthood by such an outstanding institution. I am proud to become a member of a society founded on the principles of duty, commitment, personal responsibility, and respect for individuals."

The Sovereign Order of the Orthodox Knights Hospitaller of St. John is a prestigious humanitarian organization recognized around the world for charitable efforts on behalf of the needy, the ill, children, and victims of natural calamities.

Billy Mounger of Jackson will also be knighted during the ceremony for his work with the St. Petersburg project. William "Buck" Stevens, Dr. Brent Harrison, and Dr. Robert R. Smith of the University Medical Center were knighted into the Order last November for their work with the project.
