The Webmonkey Tour

Welcome to Webmonkey, the Web developer's resource since 1996.

We tinker, break stuff, figure things out, and pass the information on to you. We explain emerging technologies, explore the trends, and show you how to use this knowledge for good instead of evil.

Take a Tutorial

Tutorials are at the heart of Webmonkey. Penned by actual Webmonkeys and a vicious posse of contributors, our tutorials walk you through the basics and then let you get your hands dirty with detailed how-to projects. Whether you're just starting out with HTML, are looking to expand your Photoshop or Flash skills, need to brush up on stylesheets, want to build an online store, or are ready to take the best JavaScript tutorial on the Web, we've got it covered.

Get Your Questions Answered

If you want something a little more focused, we've got a slew of articles and commentary, covering just about every Web-related topic you've ever heard of. We've divided all our content into seven different categories: Authoring, Design, Multimedia, E-Business, Programming, Backend, and Jobs. For a more complete explanation of what each section is all about, sneak a peek at the collection descriptions.

Use our expandable sidebar to your left or the pulldown menu up top to browse through these collections. Or you can cut to the chase by using the Search box. We've tweaked it a little bit here and there to hook you up with the stuff you need as quickly as possible.

And Much More

There's plenty of other stuff tucked away around the site, including the lowdown on the many Webmonkey contributors, the core Webmonkeys, and our weird side projects. Then there's our sister sites: Webmonkey for Kids and Webmonkey Guides. Also, be sure to check our frontdoor for Today's Monkey Bite, which will give you a quick fix of our peculiar brand of monkey love: a helpful tip, a useful site, a curious trend, or perhaps a touching series of haiku.

Finally, if you want to take Webmonkey to the next level, sign up for Elbow Grease, our official newsletter that's sent out three times a week. It'll keep you up to date on our latest features and office shenanigans, as well as provide you with helpful links and tips on Web-related stuff. You can also sign up for our public listserv, Monkeyjunkies, where you can post questions and opinions about Web development. To subscribe, send an email with "subscribe monkeyjunkies" in the message body to majordomo@lists.wired.com.

If you're having trouble subscribing or unsubscribing from our mailing lists, please contact support@wired.com. If you have comments or questions about the site, drop us a line at webmonkey@wired.com.

So have a look around, enjoy your stay, and remember: Do not fear the Monkey, for the Monkey is your friend.
