A great look in outerwear - full-length coat trimmed with grannies down fronts and around sleeves. Made of Reynolds Lopi.

SIZES: Small (medium-large). Garment width around underarms (buttoned), about 36" (39"- 42").

MATERIALS:
Reynolds Lopi, 13 (13-14) skeins #81 (A); 3 skeins #73 (B); 1 skein each #64 (C), #69 (D), and #71 (E). Crochet hook sizes H and J, or size required to crochet to gauge. 7 buttons, 5/8" in diameter.

GAUGE: 5 sc = 2"; 3 rows = 1 " (with J hook), 3 sc = 1" (with H hook).

BACK: Beginning at lower edge, with J hook and A, ch 57 (61-65).
Row 1 (Mark for right side): Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across-56 (60-64) sc. Ch 1, turn.
Row 2: Sc in each sc across. Ch 1, turn.
     Repeat Row 2 for pattern. Work 8 rows even.
Dec Row: Draw up a loop in each of first 2 sc, yo and draw through all 3 loops on hook (1 sc dec'd), sc in each sc to last 2 sc, work dec over last 2 sc. Ch 1, turn.
     Work even for 9 rows. Work dec row ch next row, then every 10th row 6 times more-40 (44-48) sts. Work even to 34" from. beg, or 1-1/2" less than desired length to underarm.

Armhole Shaping: Work 2 sc in first sc (1 sc inc'd), sc in each sc to last sc, 2 sc in last sc.
     Repeat last row 3 (2-1) times more-48 (50-52) sc. Work even to 7-1/2" (8"-8") from beg of armhole shaping, end with a wrong side row.

Right Shoulder and Neck Shaping: Row 1: Sc across first 15 (16-17) sc, do not work remaining sts. Ch 1, turn.
Row 2: Dec over first 2 sc, complete row.
Row 3: Sc to last 2 sc, dec over last 2 sc. End off.

Left Shoulder and Neck Shaping: With right side facing, skip center 18 sc on last long row worked, join A in next sc, ch 1, sc in same sc and in remaining 14 (15-16) sc. Complete to correspond to right side, reversing shaping.

Right Back Side Edging: Right side facing, join B in lower right corner.
Row 1: With H hook, sc in same corner and, keeping edge flat, sc evenly along side edge to point at top of armhole incs, work 2 sc in point, sc along remaining side edge to shoulder. Ch 1, turn.
Row 2: Sc in each sc to 2nd sc of corner point, 2 sc in 2nd sc, dec 1 sc over underarm curve, sc in each remaining sc. Ch 1, turn,
Row 3: Dec'ing 1 sc at underarm and inc'ing 1 sc in first corner point sc, sc in each sc across. Cut yarn.

Left Back Side Edging: Right side facing, join B in upper left side corner. Work 3 rows to correspond to right side edging.

LEFT FRONT: Beginning at lower edge, with J hook and A, ch 19 (21-23).
Rows 1 through 10: Work same as for back on 18 (20-22) sc.
Dec Row: Dec over first 2 sc, sc in remaining sc. Continue to dec every 10th row at side edge 7 times more - 10 (12-14) sc. Work even for same number of rows as back to underarm.

Armhole Shaping: Inc 1 sc at side edge on next 4 (3-2) rows - 14 (15-16) sc. Work even to 6" (6-1/2"-  6-1/2") above beg of armhole shaping. Dec 1 st at front edge on next row. Work even to same length as back to shoulder. Shape shoulder same as for right back shoulder.

Left Front, Side Edging: Having same number of sts as on back side edging, work 3 rows to correspond.

RIGHT FRONT: Work to correspond to Left Front, reversing shaping. Work side edging to correspond.

MOTIF 1: Make 18. With J hook and E, ch 6,  join with sl st to form a ring.
Rnd 1: Ch 1, * work 3 sc in ring, ch 2 for corner; repeat from * 3 times more, join to first sc. Cut yarn.
Rnd 2: Join D in a ch-2 space, ch 1, * sc in same corner space; sc in next 3 sc, sc in next corner space, yo twice, insert hook into center ring and bring hook out in same corner ch-2 space, (yo and draw through 2 loops) 3 times (long trc completed); repeat from * 3 times, end trc in last corner, join.
Rnd 3: Join A in long trc, ch 2 for first hdc, * yo, insert hook under long trc, yo and draw loop under trc, (yo and through 2 loops) 2 times (corner raised dc completed), hdc in same corner space, hdc in each of next 5 sc, hdc in corner space; repeat from * around as established, join to top of starting ch.

MOTIF 2: Make 18. Make same as Motif 1 as follows:
Rnd 1: With C.
Rnd 2: B.
Rnd 3: A.

Front Motif Strip: Beginning with Motif 2 at bottom, alternate 12 Motif 1 and Motif 2 pieces. Sew strip together for right front strip.
        With J hook and A, right side facing, sc around each motif strip, working 3 sc at each corner, join.

Neck Shaping: Working across top edge of strip, sc across 9 sc. Ch 1, turn.
Row 2 (outside edge): SI st In first 5 sc, sc in last 4 sc. Ch 1, turn.
Row 3: Sc in 2 sc. Ch 1, turn.
Row 4: Dec over 2 sc.

Make a second strip the same, beginning with Motif 1 at bottom edge, and reversing neck shaping.
Sew motif strips in place to front edges, aligning neck decs at top edges. Sew shoulder seams.

SLEEVES: Alternating Motif 1 and Motif 2, sew 6 motifs together. With right side facing, join A in right top corner of long edge.
Row 1: Work 54 sc evenly across edge. Ch 1, turn.
Row 2: Sc in first 27 sc, place marker for center, sc in 27 sc. Ch 1, turn.
Row 3 (Dec Row): Dec over first 2 sc, sc to 3 sts before marker, dec over next 2 sc, sc in next 2 sc, dec over next 2 sc, work across as established, dec over last 2 sc - 4 sc decreased. (Notes: Move center marker up on each row.)
       Repeat Row 3 every 8th row 3 (2-2) times more - 38 (42-42) sts. Work even to 15" (15"- 15-1/2") from lower edge of motif strip, end with a wrong side row. Join B, sc in each sc across.
       Sew sleeve in place. Steam press seam. Sew underarm and side seams, then steam press seams as before.

Neck Edging: Right side facing, with J hook, join A in right front neck corner.
Row 1: Work 16 sc across right front neck edge, 22 sc across back neck edge, 16 sc across left front edge. Ch 1, turn.
Row 2: Dec'ing 4 sc evenly spaced across, sc in each sc across. Ch 1, turn.
Row 3: Sc in each sc across.

Outside Edging: Right side facing, with H hook, join B in center back of neck edge.
Rnd 1: Sc in each sc to front neck corner, 3 sc in corner, sc across left front edge to lower corner, 3 sc in corner, sc across bottom edge of coat, 3 sc in right front corner; working same number of sts as on left front edge, sc across right front edge, 3 sc in upper corner, sc across remaining neck edge, join. Ch 1, turn.
Rnd 2 (wrong side facing): Dec 1 st at back of neck, dec 1 sc across front neck edge, working 3 sc at all corners as on last rnd, sc across front edge, inc 6 sc evenly spaced across bottom edge, complete remaining front and neck edge to correspond. Ch 1, turn.
Rnd 3 (Buttonhole Rnd): Mark for 7 buttons evenly spaced on left front edge, the first at top corner, the last in line with lower edge of 5th motif from bottom, the others evenly spaced between.
Buttonholes: Opposite each marker, ch 2, skip 2 sc, sc in next sc. Working 3 sc in corners as before, sc around, working buttonholes opposite markers. Join, do not turn.
Rnd 4: Change to J hook. Working through back loops only, sl st in each sc and ch around, join.

Sleeve Edging: Right side facing, with H hook, join B at seam on lower sleeve edge.
Rnd 1: Work even in sc, join. Ch 1, turn.
Rnd 2: Working in sc, inc 3 sts evenly spaced around. Ch 1, turn.
Rnd 3: Work even in sc. Join, do not turn.
Rnd 4: Change to J hook and, working through back loops only, sl st in each sc around. Join. Steam press all edges flat.

Buttons: With H hook and B, ch 2.
Rnd 1: Working tightly, work 4 sc in 2nd ch from hook.
Rnd 2: Work (2 sc in sc, sc in next sc) 2 times, sl st to starting st.
       Fasten off leaving a 10" strand. Thread yarn in large eye needle and run through back loops of each st. Insert button, draw loops closed and secure. Sew buttons in place.
