NU GOLF: Husker women lead home golf event

Everything was blowing NU's way Monday on the first day of the Alltel Husker Invitational women's golf tournament at Yankee Hill.

Sarah Sasse had the individual lead, and the Huskers were leading the team race after 36 holes.


PREP GIRLS GOLF: Krapfl filling big shoes at Southeast

Any thoughts that the Lincoln Southeast girls golf team might slip under a new coach were erased in a hurry.

Last Friday, in their first tournament under Dick Krapfl, the Knights posted a 6-stroke victory in the Kearney Invitational.

AKRON, Ohio -- Even in near darkness, there was no mistaking Tiger Woods.

He was a silhouette in the fairway, 168 yards from the green, trying to complete another landslide victory. The swing was unmistakably pure. The result was vintage Woods, the ball dropping from the dark haze and landing 2 feet from the pin.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- Jack Nicklaus got his first up-close look at Tiger Woods. He saw the same thing everyone else has all year.

Drives that sailed 300 yards down the middle of the fairway. Approach shots that took dead aim at the flag. Putts falling on command. A familiar name on top of the leaderboard in a major championship.


Gibson golf event Saturday

Some big names in baseball, football and basketball will be showing off their golf games Saturday during the Bob Gibson All-Star Classic at Tiburon Golf Club.
