Natin 99 Concert
Featuring Eraserheads

By JONATHAN CHAN

COBY'S CAFE, Sampaloc, ManilaThe premier Filipino rock band, the Eraserheads, are the Dawn of the 90’s. No other local rock act has as a diverse appeal and as many great slices of 3 minute hook-laden gems. Their albums have consistently produced single after hit single and the latest offering from the quartet is ‘Natin ’99’ is no different. The E-Heads took their act to Coby’s Café the hottest place for U.S.T. students and their friends to party.

Members of modern rock bands Imago, Garlic and Sandwich were seen amongst the crowd and the Planet Gimmick – G Force. The crowd, mostly composed of students and fresh faced yuppies, braved the torrential down pour and gathered on the second floor of Coby’s Café to enjoy an Eraserheads gig.

The hit songs kept on coming, from the newer singles like, ‘Mahiwagang Bahaghari’ & ‘Huwag Kang Matakot‘ to such favorites as ‘Magasin,’ ‘Torpedo,’ ‘Haraana,’ ‘Pare Ko,’ ‘Julie Tearjerky,’ and ‘Alapaap.’

The E-Heads didn’t seem their usual carefree selves though, as they probably were bad trip from some off-tuned instruments and the lousy weather. But the crowds were seen bobbing their heads and singing along, albeit with surprising restrain, since an intimate place like Coby’s would’ve been ideal for some friendly moshing.
