Man arrested in connection with stabbing
Lincoln police have arrested 29-year-old Keith Moore of Lincoln on suspicion of second-degree assault in connection with a stabbing. Moore is suspected of using a folding knife Tuesday to stab Theodore Mothershed, 32, at 1021 A St. Mothershed was not seriously injured in the assault. It was unclear Wednesday why the two men fought, but police said Mothershed is married to Moore's former wife.
Riser pretrial conference today
BEATRICE -- A pretrial conference for a teen-ager accused of murder will begin at 9:30 a.m. today. Jeremy Riser, 17, is charged with first-degree murder, as well as six other felony charges, in connection with the March 10 shooting death of Judy Kohout of Cortland.
Man sentenced on child sex assault
FAIRBURY -- A Fairbury man was sentenced Wednesday to 60 months in prison for sexually assaulting an 8-year-old girl last summer. Jeffrey Alexander, 28, was sentenced in Jefferson County District Court. He will receive credit for four days he has already served. Alexander was originally charged with four counts of first-degree sexual assault, Class II felonies. In a plea agreement, he pleaded guilty to one count of sexual assault of a child, a Class IIIA felony.
