Click here to read the full text of Ralph Nader's Candidacy Announcement Our country has far more problems than it deserves and far more solutions than it applies. The reason: excessive concentration of power and wealth in a few hands. Instead of government of, by, and for the people, we have a government of the Exxons, by the General Motors, and for the DuPonts. Such concentration serves the interests of the few over the many. History has taught us the perils of this degree of concentrated power and wealth. This concentrated power in the service of greed, together with short-term thinking, prevents our country from foreseeing and forestalling looming problems on the horizon. Among these problems:
Volunteers are needed to get Ralph on
the ballot in all 50 states, register voters, and get the word out about
Ralph's candidacy. We also need contributionsin
whatever amount you can afford. |
There
can be no daily democracy without daily citizenship.
The liberated political energies of committed citizens can build a
deliberative, functioning democracy to treat the systemic problems of
our society with systemic justice.
Presidential elections should be a time for deep discussions by citizens
about down-to-earth problems.
The Nader 2000 campaign strives to clean up and clean out the political
decay that has turned our government over to a plutocracy and to the
politicians who take its marching orders.
The Nader 2000 campaign will take on the ballot-shielded two-party
duopoly of Tweedledum and Tweedledee and give voice not only to regular
voters, but to the half of all eligible voters who do not vote because
they do not believe their vote means anything.
Out of an informed, motivated, and mobilized people will come the
justice that spells genuine prosperity and the broader fulfillment of
human possibilities.
Vote Nader.
