MATERIALS: Coats & Clark's Speed-Cro-Sheen, 2 100-yd. balls. Aluminum crochet hook size F. Eight flowers. Grosgrain ribbon, 5/8" wide, 3-1/2 yds. Matching sewing thread.
GAUGE: 1 knot-st = 1". Note: Hat is worked with double strand.
___Hat: Beg at back point, with 2 strands, ch 2.
___Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook, * pull up a lp on hook to measure 3/4", yo hook and through lp, sc under strand at back of long lp (1 single knot-st made), repeat from * (1 double knot-st made), sc in first sc of work. Work 1 double knot-st, turn.
___Row 2: Sc in sc at end of row 1 (1 inc), work single knot-st, sc in sc at center of next double knot-st. Work double knot-st, turn.
___Row 3: Sc in sc at end of row 2 (1 inc), * work single knot-st, sc in next sc, repeat from * once. Work double knot-st, turn.
___Row 4: Sc in sc at end of row 3 (1 inc), * work single knot-st, sc in next sc, repeat from * twice. Work double knot-st, turn.
___Rows 5-22: Work as for row 4, increasing 1 knot-st each row and working 1 single knot-st over each knot-st-22 knot-sts at end of row 22. Ch 1, turn,
___Edging: Sc across front edge, working 2 sc in each lp and 1 sc in each sc across, 3 sc at corner, work in sc along side edge to back point, 3 sc in back point, work in sc along side edge to front edge, sc in ch 1 at beg of rnd.
___Ties: Ch 45 for first tie. Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across, sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across, sc in each sc across front edge, sc in center sc of 3 sc at corner, ch 45 for second tie. Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across, sl st in 3rd sc at corner. End off.
___FINISHING: Steam-press hat. Cut ribbon into 8 pieces, 15-1/2" long. With front of hat facing you, tie 7 bows evenly spaced across front, tying ribbon around knots on row 22. Tie bow at back point. Tack a flower over each of the 8 bows.
