NJ Republican Congressional Candidate Harold
C. Turner (NJ-13) is proud to endorse:
The Honorable George
W. Bush
for President of
The United States
Bush is a stronger conservative, a
stronger candidate with a
better record and better character
than John McCain
With New Jersey's Primary Election in June being among the last in the nation, endorsements from our State have never meant much to candidates for President. The choice of Presidential candidate is usually a "done deal" long before New Jerseyans vote. This year, however, the situation is different.
Enter John McCain.
In an unparalleled and overt attempt to subvert the Republican nominating process, Democrats, aided and abetted by their willing accomplices in the media, have intentionally changed Party affiliation to the GOP in huge numbers and in many States. Apparently, they've applied nationally, the same strategy that has worked so well for Democrats here in Hudson County, NJ.
Exit polling clearly indicates these Democrats
voted for John McCain, and just as clearly indicate they "aren't sure"
if they'll vote for McCain or Al Gore in November. This is nonsense.
These Democrats know full well they intend to vote for Al Gore. But
they also know that Gore is socialistic, a pathological liar, a race-baiter,
a man who exploits class-envy, is a radical environmentalist nut case and
is thereby a weak candidate. The Democrats know they cannot afford to have
a strong Republican face Gore because Gore will lose. So rather than
do the honorable thing and nominate a different candidate, Democrats have
taken the dishonorable path and are trying to corrupt the GOP nominating
process.
Don't get me wrong, if McCain was winning
based on Republican voters, I would have less problems with him.
But like a lamb to the slaughter, John McCain is feeding right into the
Democrats plan. His ego has him living in La La Land. I expect
better from a war hero.
McCain says he's getting support from Democrats because he's a "Reagan Republican." To borrow a phrase, I know Ronald Reagan; Ronald Reagan is a friend of mine. Senator McCain, you're no Ronald Reagan.
McCain's track record in The US Senate is unremarkable; except for the pending debacle of the McCain-Feingold "campaign finance reform bill." Under the guise of limiting "special interests," that Bill is nothing less than a frontal assault on the First Amendment rights of every American to spend money as we see fit in support of candidates we like. McCain-Feingold is shameful, unconstitutional legislation. We ought not promote to the highest office in the land, ANOTHER man who is obviously willing to violate the Constitution (as Bill Clinton has.)
But what I see as the most ominous aspect of John McCain is his willingness to use religion as a weapon to divide people. His campaign used "dial-a-smear" tactics in Michigan, using telephone auto-dialers to smear George Bush as being anti-Catholic. At first, (while the polls in Michigan were open) McCain denied he had anything to do with those calls. It wasn't until after the polls closed, that McCain admitted the calls were done by his campaign. Sound familiar? Looks "Clintonesque" to me. You know -- deny, deny, deny until the facts are irrefutable, then change the subject. And how did McCain change the subject?
McCain virulently attacked Rev. Pat Robertson, Rev. Jerry Falwell and Christian conservative voters. Robertson and Falwell did nothing to McCain but tell the truth. Yet in typical "Clintonesque" manner, McCain is now smearing those men, trying to take attention away from the fact he publicly lied to all of us. Senator, I'm not a very good Catholic, but I am Catholic and proudly so. I do not take kindly to being smeared as a bigot or a religious radical; neither do my fellow Christians.
John McCain ought to be ashamed of himself
for lying and engaging in egregious attacks on people of religion.
For me, McCain's' lying was bad enough, but the attacks by him against
religious people were the final straw. John McCain will not
get my vote and he should not get yours. Because America cannot afford
another liar like Bill Clinton in the White House.
George W. Bush is Governor of Texas,
one of the largest states in America. In that position, he has a
solid track record of conservative policies, limited Government, lower
taxes, punishing criminals and protecting the rights of the law-abiding.
He is pro-life and pro-second Amendment. He also comes from a good
family; a mom and dad whom Americans of good character miss in the
White House.
While America does not have families of nobility, (despite what the Kennedys would like to think) The Bush family is honorable. Sure, George W. Bush may have indulged a bit too much with alcohol, or experimented with other things, but so what? Who among us has never gone astray or taken a fall? I certainly have.
Despite his admitted "problem" with alcohol and rumors of possible use of other things, Bush is obviously walking the correct path now. He has a personal and political track record to prove it. Moreover, during the campaign Bush hasn't lied to us. More than anything, his character in that regard is incredibly important - and he passes the character test.
For all these reasons and more too numerous
to list, for whatever its worth I proudly endorse
George W. Bush for President of the United
States.
