Dartmouth, NS -MLA Alan Mitchell, plunged into cyberspace this morning with the launch of the first official MLA Homepage in Nova Scotia. 

Mr. Mitchell welcomed the Minister of Technology and Science, the honourable Gerald O'Malley as the first official visitor to the website, the first of its kind in Nova Scotia. Mr. O'Malley said, "While other political parties have established websites in recent months, this is the first website dedicated to serving the constituents of Dartmouth - Cole Harbour and providing valuable information on government programs, initiatives and policies to all Nova Scotians. I am sure his example will be followed as elected officials discover this effective, inexpensive method of reaching their constituents." 

Mr. Mitchell made history earlier in the year when he sent and received the first e-mail message from the floor of the House of Assembly using a wireless LAN connection and his laptop computer. "I have always held a great interest in the new technology and the limitless opportunities for greater accessibility and accountability. I am pleased to introduce this Homepage as a record of accountability to the people of Dartmouth Cole Harbour and a source of valuable federal, provincial and municipal links to all Nova Scotians."
