Pedro Martinez left after four innings with stiffness in his right shoulder, but Rico Brogna rescued the Red Sox with a tiebreaking grand slam in the ninth inning Monday night, giving Boston a 7-3 victory over the Tampa Bay Devil Rays.

more than 100 sailors trapped at the bottom of the Barents
Sea in a submarine crippled by a major collision. The chance
of a happy ending, the navy chief conceded, was "not very

Report: Heating costs to rise again
Winter heating bills for people who use natural gas could be more than 50 percent higher this coming winter than last, according to an Energy Department forecast.
People using oil for heating may be in for steep prices as well, perhaps a repeat of last winter when heating prices spiked to more than $2 a gallon in New England.
