TIDE GAUGE AT THE PORT CANAVERAL ENTRANCE REPORTED A SURGE OF 2 TO 2.5 FEET.


BEACH EROSION...
SIGNIFICANT WAVE ACTION BATTERED AN ALREADY WEAK DUNE LINE AND PRODUCED SUBSTANTIAL BEACH EROSION ONCE AGAIN. IN MARTIN COUNTY FROM 4 TO 8 FEET OF BEACH FRONT WAS LOST WITH AN ESTIMATED COST OF 4 MILLION DOLLARS. OTHER DOLLAR ESTIMATES INCLUDE 8 MILLION IN BREVARD COUNTY, 7 MILLION IN VOLUSIA COUNTY, AND 2 MILLION IN SAINT LUCIE COUNTY.


FLOODING...
WITH ABOUT 9 INCHES OF RAINFALL OVER MARTIN COUNTY, THEY REPORTED FROM 3 TO 4 FEET OF WATER COVERING MOST ROADS IN THE SOUTH PART OF THE COUNTY. ABOUT 60 HOMES WERE FLOODED. PORTIONS OF 155 ROADS WERE CLOSED DURING THE STORM. IN SAINT LUCIE COUNTY 200 HOMES WERE FLOODED. FLOODING WAS WIDESPREAD BUT MINOR IN THE REMAINING COASTAL COUNTIES.


TORNADOES...
NONE


STORM EFFECTS...IN MARTIN COUNTY 15 HOMES HAD MAJOR WIND DAMAGE AND ONE MOBILE HOME WAS DESTROYED. ABOUT 3 THOUSAND TREES WERE BLOWN DOWN. IN SAINT LUCIE COUNTY 40 HOMES RECEIVED MINOR DAMAGE AND 2 HAD MAJOR DAMAGE. BREVARD COUNTY REPORTED 1074 HOMES WITH MINOR DAMAGE AND 17 WITH MAJOR DAMAGE. ABOUT 450 MOBILE HOMES HAD MINOR DAMAGE AND 15 RECEIVED MAJOR DAMAGE. ABOUT 555 COMMERCIAL BUILDINGS HAD MINOR DAMAGE. MOST OCEAN FRONT HOTELS HAD WATER DAMAGE WHEN WIND BLEW RAIN WATER INTO WINDOWS. A LARGE BARGE BROKE FREE FROM ITS MOORING AND WAS BLOWN INTO THE US HIGHWAY 528 CAUSEWAY NEAR CAPE CANAVERAL. FLORIDA MARLIN STADIUM WAS DAMAGED. TOTAL BREVARD COUNTY DAMAGE WAS OVER 20 MILLION, SIMILIAR DAMAGE OCCURRED IN VOLUSIA COUNTY WITH A TOTAL DAMAGE ESTIMATE OF 16 MILLION.
