Welcome to Monticello!

The largest community in Sullivan County, at the heart of the Catskill mountains, the Village of Monticello is the seat of county government and home to thriving businesses. The county is bordered on the south by Orange County; on the east by Ulster County; on the north by Delaware County; and by the Upper Delaware national scenic river on the west. A distance of 90 miles from the George Washington Bridge, and a half hour from the nearest train station, allows commuting through Hoboken into Manhattan. Residents enjoy the delights of country life and the comforts of a diverse and settled community. You may find deer in your yard before work.

Founded in 1804 about mid-way between New York City and the state capital, Monticello is located on Route 17 (future Interstate 86), known as the Quickway.
