Scavenger Hunt Lesson Plan

PURPOSE:

Identify well known poets, forms, and define poetry terms by searching the internet for relevant information. Rather than asking students to search all over the internet, this scavenger hunt takes them specific sites in order to introduce features and content included in the California State Language Arts Standards

OBJECTIVES:
Aligned with California Content Standards-

  1. identify historically significant poets and compare the form, and devices used.
  2. Literary Response and Analysis - Students read and respond to historically or culturally significant works of literature that reflect and enhance their studies of history and social science. They clarify the ideas and connect them to other literary works...Subject: English/ Language Arts Level: 8.3.0
  3. Analyze the use of rhetorical devices (e.g. cadence repetitive patterns use of onomatopoeia) for intent and effect. English/ Language Arts Level: 6.1.8
  4. participate in up-to-date school technology resources to research factual material English/ Language Arts Level: 7 2.3.c
  5. Create a scavenger hunt question and give a url where the answer may be found. The student poses a relevant question sufficiently limited in scope to be completely and thoroughly answered. English/ Language Arts Level: 6.2.2.a
  6. detect the different historical points of views on historical events and determine the contest in which the historical statements were made.
  7. Reveal the significance of or the writer's attitude about the subject

Go on a poetic scavenger hunt!  Work cooperatively with a partner or small group to search for answers to the following questions. Record the url or bookmark each site! If you need help, use the hypertext links/urls listed below each question.

Create a new scavenger hunt question. List a url where the answer can be found.
