“Outstanding customer service! This is the kind of service that you hope every company would offer, but that is not the case.”

“I think your airline is the best! I've flown with you since I was six years old – I'm 13 now and still flying with you! Every flight I've been on was the best.”

Our History

In the spring of 1999, Air Alliance and Air Nova, the leading Regional airlines in Québec and Atlantic Canada, consolidated as Air Nova Consolidation provides growth opportunities, an enhanced schedule and benefits for customers, communities and employees.

Air Nova employs over 1000 persons and operates a 34-aircraft fleet including 24 De Havilland Dash 8-100s (37 seats), five British Aerospace 146 jets (77 seats, including 10 Executive Class) and five Beech 1900D turboprops (18 seats). Today, we fly 2000 flights per week to 28 destinations, including the Province of Québec, Atlantic Canada, Ottawa, Boston, Hartford and New York.

Air Nova is 100% owned by Air Canada, and through Star Alliance, connects customers to destinations worldwide.

Air Nova proudly reflects the strong history of both Air Alliance and Air Nova.

Air Alliance

Air Alliance was founded in 1988, with the mandate of providing a new service to Québec residents that would be consistent with Air Canada's record for service quality. The Company began with 65 employees and two Dash 8-100s serving four destinations. By 1991, Air Alliance had a fleet of 15 Dash 8s. Unfortunately, drastic changes to the business market in Québec resulted in downsizing during the early 1990s. In 1996, the Company revised its strategy to respond to the changing demands of the Québec marketplace. The result was the purchase of five Beech 1900Ds in April 1996, which allowed Air Alliance to add frequencies, increase direct connections and serve new destinations.

Air Nova

In 1986, a small group of airline industry veterans started a regional airline in the newly deregulated industry. Through research, Atlantic Canadians told us they wanted more flights, increased frequency, efficient schedules and connections, on-time performance, and an airline that could serve both large and small communities. Air Nova took to the skies in July 1986 with 40 employees and two aircraft serving five destinations. The airline has enjoyed dramatic growth and, today, is the leading regional air carrier in Eastern Canada.
