According to a new estimate nearly 20 million students would directly benefit from his plans to hire qualified teachers and help teachers reach high standards.
"I believe we should require the testing of students to make sure they're learning the basics of reading and math, and I want to hold states and schools accountable through mandatory testing," said Gore. "I believe we should test all new teachers- including in the primary subjects they teach. We should make sure there's a qualified teacher in every classroom, and I think it's time to treat teachers like the professionals that they are -- boosting teacher pay while raising teacher standards." more
