The Los Angeles Doctor Who Viewing Society (LADWVS) is the latest in a new tradition of American DW viewing societies dedicated to one and only one pasttime: getting together to watch Doctor Who. With a renewed interest by many in the L.A. area in watching the program, the LADWVS got off to a rousing start on September 13, 1999 with 34 people showing up to watch "An Unearthly Child". We simply did not expect this much enthusiasm, and we are very glad to see that Doctor Who fandom is indeed alive and well in L.A.

The LADWVS is not a club. It is just an opportunity to bring your own food, sit down with some other fans and watch Doctor Who stories. We will have classic Who episodes, "missing" episodes, specials and releases that have yet to hit the U.S. The rules are simple: No chatting during the videos. No alcohol. Be courteous to other viewers. If you'd like to socialize with fans, LA's Doctor Who & SF media fan club, the Time Meddlers of Los Angeles, exists for that. This doesn't supersede that... it's just a way for those of us who are Doctor Who fans to get together and actually watch the program!

Originally, the gathering was designed to let all attendees pick and choose what they'd like to see. But, due to very popular demand, we've decided to start scheduling meetings with a special focus or theme to give people a broad cross section of Doctor Who. We will not reshow anything, at least not for a long time.

Come join us! The LADWVS usually meets on the first Monday of each month at the clubhouse of the Los Angeles Science Fantasy Society (LASFS), who have granted us the privilege of using the place to show Doctor Who videos, from 7:00pm to 11:00pm. The LASFS Clubhouse is located at 11513 Burbank Boulevard in North Hollywood, CA. It is about two blocks east of the 170 Freeway off at the Burbank Bl. exit, halfway between the freeway and Lankershim Boulevard. We start gathering around 6:30 for light socializing but we start the video watching ON TIME!

NOVEMBER 6 , 2000: We celebrate the anniversary of Doctor Who with a star-studded trip to Gallifrey for the Tom Baker stories "THE DEADLY ASSASSIN" and "THE INVASION OF TIME".

DECEMBER ?, 2000: The LADWVS' second annual KlunkerFest with stories too bad and too moronic ever to be called classics. Live it up with Tom Baker and the thrilling (?) aliens the Swarm in "THE INVISIBLE ENEMY" and top that off with a healthy dose of bad Paul Darrow acting in Colin Baker's classic (?) "TIMELASH". Note that this will be on a different day than the first Monday of December due to activities at the LASFS clubhouse.
