MISSING PIECES
Edited by Mark Phippen and Shaun Lyon

A Benefit for the Foundation for the Study of Infant Death and the Downs' Syndrome Association

Featuring an Introduction by PETER DAVISON and Original Fiction by COLIN BAKER and WENDY PADBURY

Coming FEBRUARY 2001...

"Love may be only a story, but stories are the greatest things in the world."

From the dawn of time to the end of everything, the Doctor has fought against evil. And now, together with his faithful companions and his trusty TARDIS, the mysterious Time Lord from Gallifrey ventures forth on an all-new campaign for truth, justice and a hot cup of tea, in this charity collection to benefit the Foundation for the Study of Infant Death and the Downs' Syndrome Association.

As the Doctor faces his final destiny, the last few missing pieces of his lives slot into place...

Join the First Doctor as he witnesses the Crimean War and the Charge of the Light Brigade; the Seventh Doctor as he faces intrigue in ancient Antioch and injustice in the dark recesses in Nazi-era Poland; and the Sixth Doctor's nightmarish adventures in contemporary shopping malls. Be witness to the Fourth Doctor's battles against a murderous fury in modern London and a savage gangster war in 1950's Las Vegas. The Third Doctor's love/hate relationship with a clever white witch, and his perpetual game of chess with an old foe. The Second Doctor's encounters with Hollywood legends, time traveling film makers and dinosaur blood. The Fifth Doctor's mysterious adventures in a Florida retreat.
The Eighth Doctor's sabbatical in the fine arts with da Vinci, and his struggle with a booby trap from the dawn of time. And the personal demons the wandering Time Lord faced before he left Gallifrey -- before the mythos began....

The adventures span the universe, forgotten lands and alien worlds: The Master's fiendish plot against a people in Paradise. The daring quest of the rogue Tharil Time Lord, Romana. The horrific truth behind the transformation of Kamelion. The apocryphal adventures of the young handmaiden Katarina. Nyssa's brush with showbusiness. Sara Kingdom's last great adventure. Benny Summerfield and her forgotten loves. The timeless relationship between Samantha Jones and the soulmate she left behind. Compassion's daring quest, adrift in the madness of wartime Vietnam. A game of golf with the mysterious Dominie, the Doctor's enigmatic shadow, and a moment of destiny with Professor Daniel Joyce. The conundrum of the savage Leela, lost among the dark spires and monstrous giants of a place called... New York. A secret incursion into the Matrix, and the restoration of a Time Lord's soul. The ancient rage that strikes against the TARDIS itself.

Plus... the first official in-print adventure of audio companion Charlotte (Charley) Pollard. A new tale with new companion Anji Kapoor by her creator. A companion piece & prequel to a forthcoming BBC Doctor Who novel. A fully-illustrated Second Doctor tale. A linking story that bridges the Doctor Who and BBV universes. All in a book featuring eight television Doctors and nearly every official companion seen on television, both novel ranges and the audio plays.

Stories of intrigue, of drama, of action, of suspense, and even a romance or two for good measure, MISSING PIECES is a collection of over 75 pieces of short fiction, poetry and art. It's a collection for the ages.

Associate Publisher: Diana Dougherty
Official book debut at GALLIFREY 2001 in Los Angeles

Doctor Who and The TARDIS are copyright © The British Broadcasting Corporation / BBC. This is an unofficial publication. No attempt has been made to supercede these rights. This publication will be sold solely in return for a charitable donation from the purchaser. No profit has been made on the production of the book itself. A charge for the costs of the materials and postage alone will be levied.

ART SUBMISSION GUIDELINES:
We are still accepting artwork for Missing Pieces until October 31, 2000. The interior of the book will indeed be photocopied; a disadvantage in North America is that it's MUCH more expensive to print here, and the actual physical production of the book will be done in California. Therefore, the kind of artwork that will best serve this publication is that which can be easily reproduced. Line drawing, dot shading and so forth is the best type of art to reproduce in this manner. Shading may tend to lose some of its definition. Heavy black areas tend to be a killer on the machines. When in doubt, ask us!

The best way to send us artwork is via the Internet. All material is going to be scanned in anyway, so if you do it on your end, you have control over the best possible resolution of scan. We already have an artist who is doing the cover of the book, so submissions for this will not be accepted,

If you are interested in submitting artwork, be sure to send a query to collection@gallifreyone.com so that both editors can see it at the same time. We will certainly accept large files on CD or ZIP disk if that is your wish. However, the publisher (Shaun) has a speedy connection to the Internet and can download very large files quickly. If your file is larger than 1 meg in size, email us beforehand and we'll tell you where to send it. It's always a mistake to send a file to someone larger than 1 meg if they don't know it's coming. Questions are answered as fast as possible... and we definitely encourage questions (there ARE no "stupid" questions). Ask away if you're unsure! We look forward to seeing your work!
