'Dog' sitting up for Wolodarsky 'Dog' sitting up for Wolodarsky

By Greg Hernandez

LOS ANGELES (The Hollywood Reporter) --- The Walt Disney Co. (NYSE:DIG - news) has given the green light to the comedy "Dog Catcher" and is in negotiations with Wally Wolodarsky ("Coldblooded") to direct for producer Larry Brezner of Disney-based MBST Entertainment. Shooting is slated to start in the spring.

The project, written by Joe Jarvis and Greg Coolidge, is described as "Some Like It Hot" set in a sorority house and centers on three rambunctious college seniors who get kicked out of their fraternity house and wind up in drag living with sorority girls.

The three lead characters inhabit the Delta Omicron Gamma, or DOG, House, where girls on campus who are considered unattractive have landed.

The film's title refers to a man who sends unattractive coeds to the sorority house. The men are picked up by the dog catcher when they dress in drag and sneak back into the fraternity house to reclaim their books and other possessions. Through their daily contact with their "sisters," the men see how hurtful they have been to women over the years. They also experience a series of comedic mishaps along the way.

"They learn their life lessons," Coolidge told The Hollywood Reporter. "They learn more in the time they live in the sorority house than they did in all their four years in college."

Disney bought the pitch for "Dog" in the spring for about $200,000. The writers stand to double their money with the project going before cameras (HR 3/7).

The project will be executive produced by MBST's Walter Hamada. Disney vp production Jason Reed is overseeing "Dog" for the studio, along with creative executive Michael Haynes.

Jarvis and Coolidge also have been hired by Disney to pen the script for the comedy "First, Last and Security." The writing duo, who sold the script "Truth or Dare" to New Line Cinema, is set to begin work this week on the screenplay for "First," a project loosely based on the real-life adventures of Kirk Ward, who accidentally burned his grandmother's house down. To pay her back, Ward moved to Beverly Hills and took on a series of odd jobs as dog sitter, gardener and pool man.

"First" will be a Baumgarten/Prophet Entertainment production produced by Craig Baumgarten, Adam Merims and Melissa Prophet. Ward will co-produce along with Charlie Santore. Reed also is shepherding "First."

Jarvis and Coolidge are repped by agent Emile Gladstone at Broder Kurland Webb Uffner and attorney Karl Austen.

Wolodarsky is repped by Nicole Clemens, Doug Maclaren and Nancy Josephson at ICM and managed by Gavin Polone. Wolodarsky was a supervising producer on "The Simpsons" and "The Tracey Ullman Show."
