In 1908, the state of Tennessee required that
death certificates be issued for the deceased. Unfortunately, for a variety
of reasons not all deaths were recorded. These pages contain an index to
of the Campbell County Death Certificates for the years 1908-1912. The
abstract for each certificate is located in the Campbell County, Tennessee
USGenWeb Archives. The abstracts contain the following information: death
certificate number, name of deceased, date of death, sex, race, age, marital
status, place of death, cause of death, place of birth, and occupation.
If you find a certificate for which you would
like to see the abstract, you will need to write down the name EXACTLY
as it appears in the index or write down the death certificate number.
At the beginning of each table is a link to the file where the abstract
is located. Click on that link. Using the find function on your browser,
type in either the name or the death certificate number. This action should
locate the abstract.
If you would like to obtain a copy of the death
certificate, you can contact the Tennessee State Library and Archives.
You MUST supply the
death certificate number and the year of death. You
can also supply the name, but it is more important to supply the number
and the year. Please see the disclaimer.
tried my best to accurately abstract the information contained within each
death certificate. Unfortunately, in many cases the handwriting was so
poor that it was my best guess as to what the intended name was. It is
possible that the person indexing the death certificates for microfilm
(used by the TSLA for locating names on the death certificate roll) may
have interpreted the name differently. For this reason it is best to request
the death certificate by number and year. If I interpreted a certificate
incorrectly, I apologize.
