THE LORD WILL PROVIDE!

At the end of an OM summer campagn in Italy (1975 approx.) we were to return to Belgium. There were three vehicules in all. The problem was, we had hardly any money for the trip! We all slept outside next to our vehicules on the first night on the italian border.

Next morning we put all our money together to try to find enough to make the next stage. We had just enough to get to an OM office in Germany. We thought they could help us out....read onClick here to read more or this story

Urgent Jobs - Calling All Teachers Brain Food

TEACHING ENGLISH IN MISSIONS

OM has many opportunities for those with qualifications and/or experience in teaching English as a foreign language (TEFL/TESOL). In Middle Eastern countries, there’s scope to use your TEFL skills as a ‘tentmaker’; a job teaching English can help provide a visa in countries where access for missionaries is restricted. In Central Asia, teaching English is part of the community development ministry of our teams and a service appreciated by local governments. In Eastern Europe, teaching English is a way of developing relationships with local people, and often wins opportunities for witness. In Russia, for example you can “teach English & share your faith at the same time, either alongside a lively Russian church plant near St.Petersburg or as part of a pioneer team in the Siberian city of Novosibirsk”.

We’re also looking for people who can teach English to those from non-English speaking countries preparing to go into missions. A Brazilian aiming to go to the Middle East, for example, often needs to learn English first; he’ll be taught Arabic through the medium of English.

We urgently need TEFL teachers at our main language school in Rhyl, North Wales, UK. Students come to Rhyl from Europe, Latin America and Korea; many of them go on to serve with OM in fields around the world. You can help equip them for future service. Contact mike.atkin@rhyl.om.org for more details.

You can find more details about TEFL opportunities on OM by going to the Job Bank on this website. Go to ‘view’ and type in ‘TEFL’ in the keyword search box. Or contact ipd@om.org for more information.

There are many more opportunities to serve with OM listed in the JOB BANK on this web site. Log in to the Job Bank and go to ''view" to search for the appropiate ministry or country. None of these 'jobs' on OM provide a salary; OM team members are required to raise financial support to cover their expenses.
